The picture to the right shows an aerial view of the site.
You can see Shipham Quarry to the right of the frame.
The access track is visible to the south of the quarry.

These images were obtained from Multimap:

The maidenhead locator for GB3FH is:   IO81OH

The site is 237m above sea level. To the south lie the
Somerset Levels which are at or below sea level!

The map here shows the same area as the photo above.
The quarry has grown  a bit since the map was made!

From there you can zoom out to see where in the UK GB3FH
 is located.

The graph to the left shows the elevation of the ground visible from the aerial position at 34m AGL.

You can clearly see that from 60 degrees around to almost 90 degrees (or due East) that the ground rises up. This is the rest of the Mendips that is shielding the site in that direction. Penhill is on the top of this bit!

You then have the Somerset Levels from 135 to 220 degrees then the Quantock Hills South of Bridgwater. Then from 265 to 280 degrees is the River Severn.

Of course, the other side of the River Severn is the Principality of Wales but even that doesn't get much over the 0 degree elevation point
